Golf is a game that is considered boring in a lot of people’s eyes. It takes a long time to play, its generally quiet on the course, and can be frustrating. If you’ve never really played, I can understand this stigma. But the reality is, once you actually get out there, its a completely different experience.
Golf is one of the few sports that you don’t need to be great to enjoy it. You can always compete due to the handicap system. One solid shot can make the entire day worth it for most golfers. The feeling of hitting a pure shot or making a long putt for birdie is addictive and it’s what keeps people coming back.
Another reason golf is fun is the environment. You’re outside for hours, usually in a great setting. Some of the most beautiful places I have seen happen to be on golf courses. There is something relaxing about being on the golf course. I like to tell myself that it is a form of therapy for me.
Golf is also quite competitive. Even if you’re not playing in a tournament, you’re always competing with yourself. Trying to beat your last score or fix a part of your game. That constant challenge makes it interesting without being overwhelming.
At the end of the day, golf isn’t just about the score. It’s about the experience, the small wins, and the moments in between shots. Some of my best memories I have create have been on the golf course. When reflecting, it always puts a smile on my face to think back to rounds I have played with friends and family. That’s what makes it way more fun than people expect.
