My Best Rounds of Golf: and What They Have Taught Me

I have played countless rounds of golf. In recent years, some have been far below my expectations, and some have exceeded them. One of the great parts about golf is that you never know what’s going to happen out there. Today, I am going to go through some of my best rounds and how I felt before, during, and after each of them.

My best round ever came a couple years ago at a course called Chileno Bay in Mexico. This course is one of my favorites, although not particularly easy. I ended up shooting a 10 under par 62. This was well below my previous best, a 64 at my home course. Some of the key things I reflect on from this round include happiness and freedom. I was playing with family, which is one of my favorite things to do. When I am in a good mood and really enjoying the game, it really makes golf easier. Another factor is playing free. I was not worried about how well I played, but rather that I was having fun. It really kept me present for each and every shot of the day.

My second best round is a 63 at the same golf course, this happening late last year. In both of these rounds, my game did not feel really good. I remember being about half way through the back nine thinking, “wow, I wish golf was always this easy“. The problem I realized I had was not my ability to go low. But rather that I was always so worried about my outcome. Being able to live in the present and enjoy where I am at really brings out the best golfer in me.

Overall, golf is a game that you need to feel comfortable in to play well. Although golf feels easy when you are comfortable, sometimes in tournaments you can feel the complete opposite. Whenever I get nervous in tournaments, I do my best to stay present, happy, and feel free. Doing this will help most golfers lower their score. It is not something that will happen overnight, but with a little practice of this, you will soon see results
